SheaMoisture Soap Bar Review || TSD Review Book Chapter III
A beauty product made of naturally derived ingredients…count me in! That’s exactly what attracted me to this brand. I have heard many great reviews about SheaMoisture products; so I had been meaning to try its products out for a while now.
I purchased the African Black soap and the Argan Oil and Raw Shea Butter soap bars from Ulta during one of their sales. I heard a lot about the soap bars from other bloggers and influencers, so I wanted to try it out myself. They were very inexpensive. I paid about $8 for both, and considering the size of them, that was a great deal. I have been using both twice everyday for the past 2 months, and I haven’t even gotten through even half of it yet. For the price alone, I would rank this really highly!
So, now for the fun part of the review! Do I think they do what they are supposed to do? YES. The African Black Soap bar is “designed to cleanse, hydrate and calm problem skin. Helps to balance oily skin for a clearer complexion.” So luckily for me, I stopped breaking out badly and suffering with severe acne after high school. However, I do still have very sensitive skin, and any change in lifestyle definitely is reflected in my skin. In the past few months, I have been working out more than I usually did. The sweat and toxins released from your body during exercise can clog up pores all over your body, which can result in break outs and under the skin acne. To prevent that, I have been very conscientious about the products I have been using, given my sensitive skin. This soap bar definitely calms my skin and I do feel my break outs being less frequent after I started using this. However, this bar is actually really drying. I don’t want to stop using it because I love what it does for my sensitive skin, but it does get a tad bit annoying to use all the moisturizer I use now to combat the dryness. This brings me to the second soap bar, the Argan Oil and Raw Shea Butter one. I originally bought this soap bar just because the sale was for a buy one/get one free deal, but I’m glad I ended up purchasing it. I don’t know if this is ideal, but I started using this after I use my African Black soap bar in the shower. This bar actually replenishes my skin with the lost moisture; and maybe this is in my head, but I actually notice my skin tightening a bit after using it. The Argan Oil and Raw Shea Butter soap bar is a “a natural reparative bar soap [that] bathes your skin in healing, unrefined Shea Butter and antioxidant -rich Argan Oil.” This soap bar stays true to what it is meant to do.
Together, both bars are definitely a god-send for my skincare/shower routine. I do wish that the African Black Soap was not so drying on my skin, but besides that I have no complaints.
All in all, I would give the African Black Soap a 4.5/5
and the Argan Oil and Raw Shea Butter Soap a 5/5.
Much love to you all,
